I got to work with the local WDI team on the refurbishment of Le Pays des Contes de Fées at Disneyland Paris. As well as refreshing the overall ride, we wanted to use the opportunity to include scenes from some more recent stories, and especially to create an emotional finale before guests disembark their boat. In partnership with the Art Director we decided to include Up as it’s an immediately recognisable an iconic piece of Disney architecture. I painted the concept art as the basis of the scene to be fabricated, and it was also used in marketing materials to promote the refurbished attraction.

My concept artwork

The final scene

For the queue, we wanted to find a way to incorporate the Vittel brand and connect it to the theme of the attraction. We eventually settled on this sculptural piece; the support structure resembles a jet of water, with storybook pages flowing from a book. The rosemaling style border continue the water theme alongside illustrations of iconic props, hinting at scenes guests will see on their cruise. As well as developing the overall concept I illustrated the final artwork for the four pages.
